Dr. Milnes obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and
graduate pediatric dental education from the University of Toronto
and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Dr. Milnes has organized and directed research projects at the
Universities of Manitoba and Toronto and in his private practice in
several areas including:
- the oral health of children with special needs,
- the microbiology of oral diseases,
- drug regimens for managing the behaviour of uncooperative
children,
- early childhood decay ( collaboration with the University of
Michigan)
Dr. Milnes has published over 70 articles, scientific abstracts
and book chapters.
He has represented both the dental profession and pediatric
dentistry by serving on local, provincial, national and
international dental organizations and has made numerous scientific
and continuing education presentations to community groups,
parenting organizations and dental societies. He has lectured to
thousands of dentists, dental hygienists and dental
assistants locally, provincially, nationally and
internationally.
Dr. Milnes has helped develop practice guidelines and policies
for the Canadian and American Academies of Pediatric Dentistry, the
Canadian Dental Association and the College of Dental Surgeons of
British Columbia.
On a personal note, Dr. Milnes and his wife, Sylvia, are the
proud parents of daughters, Adrienne and Laura. Outdoor activities
such as camping, canoeing, kayaking, downhill and cross-country
skiing are family passions. Personal favorites include music,
nature photography, wilderness canoeing and kayaking, cycling,
woodworking and gardening with native plants.
