We believe
that quality dental care should be available to all children. We
also believe that finances should not be a barrier to your
child receiving dental care. Your child's treatment plan will
include a breakdown of all applicable fees and we will inform you
of all costs before treatment is provided. Fees may be paid by
cash, credit card or debit card. We expect that fees will be
paid, in full, at the time the services have been rendered.
Because of the special nature of sedation
appointments, parents are expected to reserve this time for their
child by paying the sedation fee at the time they book their
child's sedation appointment. To book a hospital appointment, we
require parents to pay an administrative fee to reserve operating
room time for their child. We also require that parents pay the
full cost of their child's dental treatment two weeks PRIOR to the
hospital appointment. Making this payment before treatment
effectively reserves time with our dental team in the operating
room in hospital. We consider this to be directly comparable to
booking an air ticket for travel or booking a holiday. In
these cases, prepayment is also required.
The College
of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia establishes a fee guide for
Certified Specialists in Pediatric Dentistry each year and our fees
are based on that foundation to reflect our specialty training and
focus. This reflects the years of additional education and training
beyond that received by general dentists which Dr. Milnes and Dr.
Farquhar have obtained in order to earn the certification
"Certified Specialist In Pediatric Dentistry".
We understand
that you hope to receive all of the dental insurance benefits to
which you are entitled and we will do our best to help you to do
so. We will accurately record information after each appointment
and submit it to your carrier for reimbursement. The cheque will
come directly to you since the fees will have been paid to us at
the time of service. Should you like a duplicate of the claim form,
we would be happy to provide it. Should your insurance carrier fail
to reimburse you within 30 days of the date of service you should
contact them directly.
Please note
that we do NOT accept assignment of your insurance benefits to our
office. The Canadian Dental Association and the College of
Dental Surgeons of British Columbia recommend that your insurance
money is returned to you, not to the dentist. Your insurance money
is your benefit, not ours.
