Dr. Terry Farquhar

Professionally, Dr. Terry Farquhar is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada as a Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry.  Dr. Farquhar currently is the incoming President for the Canadian Pediatric Society Oral Health Section, Liaison for US trained pediatric dentists for the Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, incoming Secretary for the Kelowna District Dental Society, a member of the Thompson-Okanagan Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team, a member of the Canadian Pediatric Society, Canadian Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, Canadian Dental Association, British Columbia Dental Association, BC Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Society for Pediatric Sedation, the Kelowna District Dental Society, and the Academy of Laser Dentistry.  Dr. Farquhar enjoys offering seminars to both Professional organizations such as the Canadian Pediatric Society, the UBC Okanagan Medical Program, Kelowna District Dental Society, Vernon Dental Society, Okanagan Periodontal Study Club, the South Okanagan Dental Society, as well as non-professional organizations such as Parental Advisory Committees associated with Kelowna schools and preschools.  Dr. Farquhar and Dr. Milnes have published several articles as public service articles on topics related to pediatric dental care, all of which can be accessed under “Our Articles” on our website.

Personally, Dr. Terry Farquhar and his wife, Tamara, are originally from North Bay, Ontario. They have traveled extensively, primarily for educational and training purposes, with stops in Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia and New York. They have three young children, Perrin, Tallula, and Jude. Dr. Farquhar enjoys music, snowboarding, mountain and road cycling as well as swimming, hiking and, more than anything, quality family time.

1995-97 – Dr. Farquhar obtained his nursing diploma at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario

1998-2003 – Registered Nurse, Alberta Children’s Hospital, Calgary, Alberta

2001-03 – Pre-dental studies, Mount Royal College, Calgary, Alberta

2003-07 – Doctor of Dental Surgery, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia

2007-08 – Residency in Pediatric Dentistry IWK Health Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia

2008-10 –  Pediatric Dentistry Specialty Training, Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Strong Memorial Hospital and the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York.

2010 – Present – Private Practice in Kelowna BC, Okanagan Pediatric Dentistry, Ongoing dental continuing education in such topics as Pediatric Sedation and Anesthesia and Laser Dentistry.
